springtime in Oklahoma

Well, it’s arrived, officially! We had stormy weather last night and again this morning. None of it reached us, really. It usually splits and goes to one side or the other of us, thankfully. It looked like it was going to be stormy this morning but it went north of us. Cooled down to about 60 degrees, then it went away and it’s sunny and warm again lol! I was out in the garden planting some sunflowers that I had started in the house(not a good idea, they get leggy!)when it started thundering and lightening popped, I made it back in the house in record time let me tell you! This girl is NOT interested in getting fried~

As for my garden, it’s coming along slowly. I have a gate. And half a fence(it was already up). Dh was supposed to put the rest of it up this last weekend, all I got was a gate lol. He says he will do it this coming weekend.  We’ll see~

here’s my gate lol~

Proud Lady/Artecy

Here is Proud Lady, it’s an artecy pattern based on the artwork of Kayomi Harai. I love this one, she’s so regal and, well, proud and majestic looking! I’m stitching this one on 22 count hardanger with one thread & it’s coming along nicely.

Of course, since the weather has been so nice here lately, I’ve been spending alot of time working in the yard, trying to get my garden ready for the season! My husband is going to get some fencing so we can finish fencing it in this weekend, then the serious work begins! Bermuda grass, everywhere! I gave up on it last year and just mowed it, lol There are raised beds so I just used those for all my flowers. Hopefully I will get to do more this year~

Stormy-PuppyHello! Yesterday was a warm one here, I spent the majority of the afternoon outside working in my garden. I had some bulbs that I bought at the store  that had already started to sprout so I needed to get them in the ground asap, even though the weather is still pretty cold. I have lots of other bulbs up in the yard, daffodils, crocus, etc. And the birds have been singing a lovely chorus here the past few days. All in all the weather is turning towards spring and I’m loving it! I need to go to Lowes and get some fence wire & t-posts so I can fence in the garden, Stormy-Puppy was very interested in digging up what I planted and making off with my watering can etc. Mischievous little thing she is, but so cute!

We’re still picking up tree limbs after the nasty icestorm that we had in December, it’s very different here now. Almost all of the trees lost their tops and limbs/branches are still falling down, it’s not safe to walk in certain places on the property. It’s really kind of depressing as I put a lot of work into cleaning up and expanding the yard some(we live on 10 acres in the country), now I have to start all over~oh well, that’s life right?!
